Mireya Villarreal has been named a CBS News Correspondent and Weijia Jiang has been named a Correspondent for CBS Newspath, the Network's 24-hour television newsgathering service for CBS stations and broadcasters around the world. Villarreal will join CBS News on July 20 and will be based in Los Angeles. Jiang will join CBS Newspath on July 6 and will be based in Washington, D.C.

Villarreal is a veteran investigative reporter who has covered consumer issues and exposed government corruption across Texas. She has won Emmy awards for uncovering excessive spending by DFW International Airport executives, reporting on a system that allows Texas school district employees to resign after wrongdoing and uncovering a real estate scam that targeted San Antonio homebuyers, which eventually sparked legal investigations into two local companies. She is also the recipient of two Texas Associated Press awards for stories on immigration and child safety.

Villarreal joins CBS News from KTVT-TV, the CBS owned and operated station in Dallas, where she had been a reporter since 2013. Previously, she worked at WOAI in San Antonio (2008-2012) and KRGV-TV in Rio Grande Valley, Texas (2005-2008). She began her journalism career at KGNS-TV in Laredo, Texas, as a weekend sports anchor and reporter (2004-2005).

Villarreal is a native of the Texas Rio Grande Valley and graduated from the University of Texas Pan-American in 2001.

Jiang has been recognized with several industry awards throughout her career. In 2013, she was part of the team at WCBS-TV, the CBS owned and operated station in New York City, that won a regional Emmy award for coverage of Superstorm Sandy. She has also been honored with an Edward R. Murrow award and an Associated Press award for feature reporting.

Jiang joins CBS Newspath from WCBS-TV, where she had been a general assignment reporter and fill-in anchor since 2012. At WCBS-TV, she covered Superstorm Sandy, the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn. and the BOSTON MARATHON bombings.

Previously, Jiang worked at WJZ-TV in Baltimore (2008-2012) and WBOC-TV in Salisbury, Md. (2006-2008). When she was a graduate school candidate in 2006, she worked for WBRE-TV in Scranton, Penn., as a Washington, D.C.-based reporter. She began her career at the age of 13 as a student reporter and anchor for ChannelOne News in Los Angeles.

Jiang graduated from The College of William and Mary in 2005 with a bachelor's degree in philosophy and from Syracuse University in 2006 with a master's degree in broadcast journalism. In 2012, she was inducted into the prestigious Professional Gallery at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. She was born in Xiamen, China, and raised in West Virginia, where she immigrated with her parents when she was two years old.
