BESSIE Starring Queen Latifah Blu-ray Now Available For Pre-Order, Out 9/1

Queen Latifah is BESSIE Smith!

CHICAGO Academy Award nominee and recognizable triple-threat star Queen Latifah recently headlined HBO's new musical biopic about the life of jazz and blues legend BESSIE Smith and the Blu-ray edition of the film is now available for pre-order, set to be released In September.

The official description of the BESSIE Blu-ray is as follows: "Oscar® nominee Queen Latifah (Chicago) stars as legendary blues singer BESSIE Smith in this HBO Films presentation. Also starring Michael Kenneth Williams (12 Years a Slave) and Oscar® winner Mo'Nique (Precious), BESSIE focuses on the transformation of a struggling young singer into "The Empress of the Blues," one of the most successful and influential recording artists of the 1920s. Capturing BESSIE Smith's professional and personal highs and lows, the film paints a portrait of a tenacious spirit who, despite her demons, became a legend."

The BESSIE Blu-ray will be released on September 1.
