On Sunday, September 7, 2014 at 3:00 pm members of the Los Angeles Metropolitan Opera company will sing music of the masters, including pieces by Bizet, Cilea, Mozart, Delibes, and Verdi. The concert will take place in the Central Library Rotunda in Downtown Los Angeles at 630 West 5th Street, Los Angeles, CA 90071.

The musical afternoon is presented free of charge as part of the Public Library's Community Arts Program. Los Angeles Metropolitan Opera (LAMet) is a grass roots, non-profit company of artists dedicated to bringing grand opera productions to the local community, in intimate settings and at very low ticket prices. Of course, the concert at the Los Angeles Central Library is free of charge, and is a great opportunity to experience these talented singers and musicians in a most impressive setting, the historic Rotunda of the Central Library downtown. If you're new to opera, the one-hour concert will provide a tantalizing taste of the form; if you're an opera lover, here's a chance to hear again some beloved comic and dramatic classics from the repertoire.

Linda Jackson, the company's artistic director and co-founder, has also just announced the productions for the upcoming 2014-2015 season. The season will feature three works by Giuseppe Verdi-UN BALLO IN MASCHERA (coming in October 2014), DON CARLO in February 2015, and AIDA in June 2015. As a special holiday presentation, LAMet will also perform Puccini's beloved LA BOHEME in December 2014. Performances will take place in Santa Monica and at All Souls Chapel at Good Samaritan Hospital in downtown Los Angeles.
