ANDREW KEOGHAN

BIO:
Andrew Keoghan's art-pop fuses carefully arranged folk, pop and electronic, with songs sometimes delicate and sparse, other times layered and orchestral. A multi-instrumentalist comfortable on guitar, beats, synths, violin and looping one-man choir vocals, Melbourne’s opinion leader Broadsheet commented on a recent Australian concert that Keoghan “swapped between mediums with such ease, it was hard not to be impressed by his raw talent.” His debut LP Arctic Tales Divide was released to critical acclaim in his homeland of New Zealand, receiving a nomination for the Taite Prize (inspired by the British Mercury Prize) and named The New Zealand Herald’s Top Local Album of 2011. His songs reflect a fascination with unexpected encounters and unlikely heroes. ‘Every Orchid Offering’ describes an ageing rock star stepping out of retirement to relive the adulation of his adoring female fan base. A classically trained singer and arranger, Keoghan worked closely with Lawrence Arabia on the string elements for his new release, The Sparrow (Bella Union) and The Ruby Suns’ forthcoming album Christopher (Sub Pop). In August, Keoghan relocated to New York to produce his sophomore LP.
