Poway OnStage and the Green Valley Civic Association are pleased to present San Diego singer/songwriter Steve Poltz in concert Saturday, November 21st with a special opening performance by Carlsbad singer/songwriter Cody Lovaas. The concert is the featured, final stop of Poltz's Southwest Folksinger Tour. Lovaas, who was named "Best New Artist" by the 2014 San Diego Music Awards, comes to Poway fresh from opening for Jason Mraz on Mraz's YES! Tour.

Poway OnStage is honored to promote the impressive careers of San Diego-based artists. Resident local Steve Poltz's songs have been frequently credited as the longest running ever on the Billboard Top 100 as they have consistently been included in movie soundtracks, television shows and commercials. Long-time dedicated fans have followed his work since he first fronted the sanctified punk-folk legends The Rugburns, whose live performances gained an enthusiastically dedicated fan base. Audiences that are new to Poltz may best recognize his work when he co-wrote Platinum-selling artist Jewel's top ten hit 'You Were Meant for Me'. His solo body of work is an impressive collection of uniquely melodic acoustic numbers that reflect his transcendent style of alternate tunings and vigorous finger-picking techniques. To see Steve perform live is an unforgettable event, filled with uproarious shared stories, audience-participant sing-alongs and epic showmanship. Poltz's latest album, Folksinger, includes a musical tribute to Poway citizen and Padres legend Tony Gwynn.

The guest performance from Cody Lovaas will leave Poltz fans grinning wildly from the young musician's energetic and intelligent songwriting skills, catchy toe-tapping tunes, and youthfully optimistic spirit. Grammy-Award Winning recording artist Jason Mraz had this to say on his interest in Lovaas:

"This is a young man I met at an open mic; I just thought he had enormous talent. About 10 years ago, I was on the road with Alanis Morissette, standing at the very edge of this stage and opening up and having a new experience in my life. It's a pleasure to give that same experience to my friend. He's getting a much earlier start than I did. I didn't start playing guitar until I was 18. And here he is, he's only 16. He's already graduated from high school. That little genius is already on tour."

"We love local music. We believe in local music," says Poway OnStage CEO Michael Rennie. "And while the bulk of our programming is geared toward bringing nationally and internationally touring talent to Poway, we've had a long-standing commitment to advancing the local performers who we feel are on par with those national talents. We are tremendously honored to have the Green Valley Civic Association as our sponsors for local music series."
