Oneman is well-known for his mixing capabilties; he's held down a weekly Rinse FM show since 2008, has a number of fabled Boiler Room sessions under his belt, mixed Fabriclive 64 for the London club's acclaimed series and his own renowned Solitaire mix series.

Now he can lay claim to having taken part in one of the most influential mix series in the world right now; the BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix.

Whilst he's known for his fast-paced festival sets alongside the likes of Jackmaster, the Essential Mix allows Oneman to display his skill at creating a long-listen mix across a variety of tempos and genres.

He chooses to start off at a laid back pace, even fitting Drake and an unreleased Mount Kimbie edit of Erykah Badu into this build up section.Things take a harder turn just ahead of the midway point, with vocal-less bass-heavy cuts like Benton's 'Going Down' and 'Punished' by Kingdom.

Oneman hits his stride in this second half, with well-known grime players AJ Tracey and D Double E featuring twice each, alongside brand new and unreleased instrumentals and lesser-known MCs. Smooth female vocals take surprise turns in flips by the likes of Fade and DJ TiGA, blended in amongst releases from well-known underground labels like Night Slugs, Swamp81 and Hyperdub, before Oneman ends the mix on a calmer note with a remix of Lapsley's 'Falling Short'.

Overall, the mix clearly defines Oneman's unique skills as a DJ; fitting in a huge selection of undiscovered gems from upcoming talents into just two hours, the tracklist takes in a broad spectrum of the UK scene that Oneman has been at the forefront of for almost a decade.

The Essential Mix comes during a landmark summer for Oneman, who has now kicked off his 13 week residency at respected London club XOYO and celebrated his 400th show on Rinse back in May.

'I'm honoured to be asked to contribute to BBC Radio 1's Essential Mix. It's something I've been working towards ever since I started DJing, so I'm excited to put my take on it. I wanted to put together a mixture of tracks that are essential to me right now, and some artists and labels that are going to shape the underground for years to come'

Whether through his acclaimed mix CDs, FabricLive 64 and Rinse 15, his fabled sets for Boiler Room, back-to-back festival sets with Jackmaster as Can U Dance or opening for renowned live dance acts like SBTRKT and even Major Lazer, Oneman has established himself as one of the UK's most accomplished and versatile selectors. Touching on everything from garage to hip-hop to grime, his mixes - both in the club and on iconic London station, Rinse FM, where has held down a weekly show since 2008 - have served as a vital reference point for those looking to get to grips with UK underground music.
