Pacific Chorale Sets 2015-16 Season

Pacific Chorale, the resident choir of Segerstrom Center for the Arts (SCFTA), has announced its 48th season under the banner "Musical Journeys." Six concerts are offered in a variety of subscription packages, as well as a free community Choral Festival concert this summer.

August 16, 2015 (5:00 p.m.) - Community-wide Choral Festival sponsored by Pacific Chorale and Segerstrom Center for the Arts. Community members join members of Pacific Chorale onstage at the Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall in a free-to-the-public concert. (Slots are still open beginning May 4 to Southern California singers who would like to sing with the choir at the Concert Hall; attendance at the three days of rehearsals is mandatory ... space-limited). Jung-A Lee on organ; Robert Istad conducting. Concert is Sunday, August 16 at 5:00 p.m. Call: 714-662-2345 to register to sing; tickets to the performance become available after July 13 through Segerstrom Center for the Arts.

November 1, 2015 (5:30 p.m. Concert/4:30 Preview) - Brahms' German Requiem - The full 140-member choir, along with Pacific Symphony, will be present for the Chorale's opening night presentation of one of choral-orchestral music's greatest monuments: Brahms' Ein Deutsches Requiem. John Alexander conducting. Location: Reneé and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall.

Saturday, December 12, 2015 (8:00 p.m. Concert) - "Carols by Candlelight" - Attendees will delight in the magical candlelit setting and audience sing-alongs with the John Alexander Singers at this intimate launch to the holiday season at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Newport Beach. John Alexander conducting.

Sunday, December 20, 2015 (5:30 p.m. Concert) - Monday, December 21 (8:00 p.m. Concert) - "Tis the Season!" - One of Southern California's most popular Christmas traditions. Associate Conductor Robert Istad delights all with a holiday extravaganza at the Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall, featuring the full choir, organ, and the brass and percussion of Pacific Symphony Orchestra. The Southern California Children's Concert Chorus and a visitor from the North Pole add to the magic of the evening. (The organization's holiday Gala fundraising dinner at the Center Club follows the concert on Sunday.) Location: Reneé and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall.

Saturday, March 12, 2016 (8:00 p.m. Concert) - Bach's B Minor Mass - Acclaimed Baroque orchestra Musica Angelica joins 36 members of the John Alexander Singers and Pacific Chorale as John Alexander bring J.S. Bach's greatest choral masterpiece from the concert hall back home to the church. John Alexander conducting. Location: Our Lady Queen of Angels, Newport Beach.

Saturday, April 16, 2016 (8:00 p.m. Concert) and Sunday April 17 (5:30 p.m. Concert) - "Broadway, Here We Come" - The John Alexander Singers pay tribute to the American musical theater tradition, showcasing their vocal versatility with an array of favorite Broadway show tunes in the cozy cabaret setting of Samueli Theater at Segerstrom Center for the Arts.

Sunday, June 12, 2016 - Cathedral Echoes (5:30 p.m. Concert) - Explore the cathedrals of Europe with Pacific Chorale through music for choir and organ by Mendelssohn, Kodaly, Bárdos, Rachmaninov and Whitacre, featuring an outstanding Hungarian guest organist. Location: Reneé and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall.
