CSO & Columbus Symphony Announce SIDE BY SIDE Program for Local Musicians

CSO Associate Conductor Peter Stafford Wilson and the musicians of the Columbus Symphony invite community musicians to rehearse "Side by Side" in a professional setting with their classical music counterparts. Approximately 50 amateur musicians will have the opportunity to rehearse with the orchestra and conductor on the stage of the Ohio Theatre, sitting and playing next to a professional musician proficient in their chosen instrument.

Repertoire* will include:
Beethoven, Symphony No. 5, IV Movement
Brahms, Hungarian Dances 5 & 6
Tchaikovsky, Symphony No. 6, III Movement
Dvorák, Symphony No. 8, IV Movement
Sibelius, Finlandia

Participants must be amateur musicians age 25 or older that are able to read music and play an instrument that is part of the standard orchestra instrumentation.

Participants will be placed on a first-come, first-served basis. No audition is required.

Registration is online only, beginning at 6pm on Monday, February 17, at www.columbussymphony.com/education/side-by-side. Applicants will be notified of their acceptance via email beginning Monday, February 24.

Accepted participants must submit a $100 participation fee, which also pays for parking, before receiving practice parts or confirmed seating.

Friends and family are welcome to attend and observe from the Ohio Theatre auditorium. No video or audio recording will be permitted. Non-flash photography is acceptable.
