Photo Flash: Hagins & Mortimer Design Welcomes Low Country Plein Air Painter Linda Fantuzzo

Hagins & Mortimer Design, the newly launched venture of acclaimed interior designer Elizabeth Hagins and noted artist, art advisor and collector Richard Mortimer hosted the Hamptons debut of Charleston Plein Air painter Linda Fantuzzo at their recently opened design gallery at 9 Windmill Lane, Southampton, 11968. A native of South Carolina herself, Ms. Hagins welcomed the artist with true Southern hospitality over the weekend offering a sparkling group of Hamptonites such traditional fare as Mint Juleps, Carolina Cotillion Punch, Bene Wafers with pimento cheese and Madeleines. Among those sampling the Low Country treats were famed interior designer Geoffrey Bradfield and Roric Tobin,artist David Nadal, Patricia & Beau Hulse, Ann Thomas, Robin Schiff, Gary & Katherine Andreassen, Peggy Bousson, realtor Elliot Epstein, Sylvia Hemingway & artist Ron Burkhardt, Rachelle Oatman, Laura & John Wynne., Jan Koen, Elizabeth Brown, Rachel Rodin, Pat Garrity, Chris Luke & Elissa Coughlin, Jin & Michael Seo, Anthony Hoberman, Dana Lyons and Lori Cuisinier.

Fantuzzo is widely acclaimed for creating ethereal works of art by searching the Low Country surroundings, focusing on ponds, streams , marshes and the occasional building as she captures the landscape infused with light. Her colors reflect the timelessness and light of the Low Country. Her work, much done Plein-air, has won her legions of fans throughout the South. The exhibition is set salon style in the midst of important 20th Century furniture and lighting . Mortimer treated Ms. Fantuzzo to a very special tour of the fabled Artist Colony home to the Plein Air School run by the world famed painter William Merritt Chase in the late 1800s.

Hagins & Mortimer Design celebrates the glorious diversity of 20th century design, spanning the decades from the 1920s to the present. Hagins & Mortimer Design features furniture that runs the style gamut from Art Deco to 1970s Brutalism. The design gallery features luminaries of 20th century design such as T.H. Robsjohn-Gibbings, Karl Springer, Paul McCobb, and Grosfeld House, among others. Lighting is another important part of the mix, and Murano glass from Barovier and Toso, Arteluce, Gio Ponti, and Mazzega are also featured as well as the firm's own custom upholstered pieces. Hagins & Mortimer Design offers interior design and art consultations by appointment.
