Roundabout Theatre Company presents Dinner with Friends by Pulitzer Prize winner Donald Margulies, directed by Tony Award® winner Pam MacKinnon. The show will feature Heather Burns as 'Beth,' Marin Hinkle as 'Karen', Darren Pettie as 'Tom,' and Jeremy Shamos as 'Gabe.' NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts presents the New York City premiere of CIRKOPOLIS, the critically acclaimed show by Montreal-based troupe Cirque Eloize for a strictly limited engagement opening last night, December, 19th, 2013 and concluding on Sunday, January 5th, 2014 at NYU Skirball Center (566 LaGuardia Place, New York, New York, 10012). Today, we're featuring Lillian Hellman, circa 1984. Hellman was an American author of plays, screenplays, and memoirs and throughout her life, was linked with many left-wing political causes. Hellman's drama, The Children's Hour, premiered on Broadway on November 24, 1934, and ran for 691 performances. It depicts a false accusation of lesbianism by a schoolgirl against two of her teachers. In December 1936, her play Days to Come closed its Broadway run after just seven performances. In it, she portrayed a labor dispute in a small Ohio town during which the characters try to balance the competing claims of owners and workers, both represented as valid. Her play The Little Foxes opened on Broadway on February 13, 1939, and ran for 410 performances. Her play Watch on the Rhine opened on Broadway on April 1, 1941, and ran for 378 performances. It won the New York Drama Critics' Circle Award. In April 1944, Hellman's The Searching Wind opened on Broadway. Her third World War II project, it tells the story of an ambassador whose indecisive relations with his wife and mistress mirror the vacillation and appeasement of his professional life.

Bronx Bombers, a new American play written and directed by Eric Simonson, will begin performances on Broadway starting January 10, 2014 at Circle in the Square Theatre. Lauper joined the cast of Kinky Boots to perform an eclectic array of standards, pop hits and other songs, with musical direction by the show's Tony Award-winning orchestrator Stephen Oremus.

Atlantic Theater Company presents the American premiere of the critically acclaimed Donmar Warehouse production of THE NIGHT ALIVE, written and directed by Olivier Award winner and Tony Award nominee Conor McPherson. The merry ladies and gentlemen of A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder departed the Walter Kerr Theatre at the end of yesterday's matinee performance to take their afternoon tea and biscuits with new friends at the 'Downton Abbey' Food Truck, which was stationed on 50th Street between 6th & 7th Avenues in midtown Manhattan. Dressed in their warmest Edwardian attire, the cast enjoyed a warm jolt before returning to the Kerr for that evening's performance.
