It's definitely worth checking out this show. Many kudos to the Kennedy Center and VSA for taking a chance on this one.
This production offers one of the most interesting examples of interactive theatre that I've seen in recent memory. Put succinctly, it's a delight.
'The Warmblooded' is heartfelt, powerful, and engaging.
This production is immensely entertaining and mesmerizing.
'August' is successful thanks to the fine concept, and brilliant execution by four talented actors.
Ashley's joy at performing is infectious and she has the talent to back it up.
Arena's production is authentic, believable, and engaging.
Woolly has done justice to this ambitious piece and I, for one, am happy they have included a truly dramatic play in its season - particularly one as compelling as this.
In a town where there seems to be a Shakespeare play going on nearly every month, it's easy to get lost in the shuffle. Taffety dares to be different and it pays off.
Round House Theatre has a hit on its hands.
The Calarco-directed production succeeds thanks to some marvelous production concepts and four stellar young actors.
Uproariously funny, it's a master class in physical comedy.
Imagination Stage has yet another successful production on its hands with this one. It's definitely recommended.
This production is recommended for the fine acting. A talented group of actors and designers give us a realistic story of America's underbelly.
The music alone is reason enough to see this show.
Even though 'Cabaret' is of the 'tried and true' variety of musical theatre and could have, therefore, resulted in yet another ho-hum production, Keegan's intimate setting, attention to detail, and mostly strong casting among the leads make this production ultimately memorable and, at times, even a bit daring.
Overall, this show is highly recommended. Folger doesn't employ gimmicks, but does justice to the material at a time when state governments across our globe are struggling with territorial disputes, the realities of political leadership, and the forces of socio-political change not unlike the ones presented in this play.
Washington Stage Guild deserves accolades for putting on this play that packs a powerful punch. This company, although it may fly under the radar in terms of public attention, should not be underestimated. 'Tryst' offers one of the best theatergoing experiences I've had in recent months.
When exceptional actors deliver an equally strong script, the end result is usually a ‘must-see' theatrical production. This is certainly the case with the Studio 2nd Stage production of 'Contractions.'
Although I wish the script was as exceptional as the source material, the acting, and the presentational elements (including the music), I give kudos to Studio for taking a chance on this one.
