It's an emotional day for America, especially for New York City, and it felt all the more poignant when Tony Award Winner Renée Elise Goldsberry sang "America the Beautiful" to start the Women's Finals at the U.S Open.

Joined by members of the military, who conducted a ritual unfurling of the American flag, Goldsberry sang the patriotic number with a slight lyric tweak that was met with enthusiastic applause.

Goldsberry's other credits include Broadway's Good People, The Color Purple, Rent and The Lion King. Off-Broadway she has appeared in Hamilton (Lortel and Drama Desk Award), As You Like It, Love's Labour's Lost, and Two Gentlemen of Verona. The actress has appeared on the small screen in "The Good Wife," "Masters of Sex," "Younger" and more.
