Although the first installment in the FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM series hasn't yet reached wide release in theaters, thanks to the success of HARRY POTTER AND THE CURSED CHILD on the West End, fans are already speculating about a possible stage adaptation of the HARRY POTTER spin-off. At a recent press conference for the film, FANTASTIC BEASTS screenplay writer and HARRY POTTER creator, J.K Rowling, dispelled the rumors of a stage adaptation, stating, "There are no plans to put Fantastic Beasts onstage. Let us do the movies, OK, first!"

One idea Rowling isn't quelling, however, is the assumed Broadway transfer of HARRY POTTER AND THE CURSED CHILD. Rowling reiterated her enthusiasm for the possibility, telling the audience: "Cursed Child, we do very much hope it will come to Broadway, but I have no dates to tell you yet. But, certainly, we hope so. We hope it's going to come to Broadway."

As BroadwayWorld reported in October, theatre owners have purportedly already begun jostling for the privilege of hosting the West End juggernaut; the Lyric, Al Hirschfeld, and Neil Simon theaters are all among the top contenders.
