39th Cape Cod Chamber Music Festival Begins August 1st

Cape Cod Chamber Music Festival (CCCMF)'s 39th season begins August 1, offering chamber music lovers summer entertainment, boasting 12 compelling concerts performed at venues across the Cape through August 24.

CCCMF's 2018 programming features stellar performing artists, diverse repertoire, intimate venues, coupled with a unique variety of unique pairings of instruments, under the expert leadership of Artistic Directors Jon Nakamatsu and Jon Manasse, and Executive Director Elaine Lipton, now all in their 12th season with the Festival. Manasse and Nakamatsu, prestigious performing artists internationally recognized for their gifts on clarinet and piano respectively, each perform during the Festival.

Several concerts in particular promise fantastic delights, including the return of world renowned ensemble Emerson String Quartet on opening night in their sixth consecutive appearance performing two of Beethoven's masterworks in "Beethoven the Master." Two pianos take center stage when two, four, then eight masterful musician's hands perform The Piano Bash in Cotuit, featuring a key-centric program including Gounod's "Waltz from Faust for Two Pianos, Eight Hands", arranged by Renaud de Vilback. Grammy Award winning Harlem String Quartet dynamically performs in reprise concert in Harlem Returns, offering an eclectic program showcasing its versatility. Schubert and Adam Gopnik, a concert performed by returning ensemble Borromeo String Quartet and guests, presents Shubert's "Octet in F Major, D. 803", accompanied by readings and fascinating insight on the composer's life expressed by The New Yorker's expert writer/lecturer Adam Gopnik. The season culminates in a breathtaking three concert residency showcasing the extraordinary talents of Harvard University's extraordinary ensemble in-residence The Parker Quartet, the last two of which feature Artistic Directors Manasse and Nakamatsu aside the ensemble, guaranteed to captivate, inspired and thrill.

Concerts are held in six communities, including one new venue for the Festival in Falmouth, ensuring maximum accessibility to Cape Cod audiences:

Wellfleet: First Congregational Church, 200 Main Street

Orleans: Church of the Holy Spirit, 204 Monument Road

Chatham: First Congregational Church: 650 Main Street (at the Rotary)

Dennis: Dennis Union Church: 713 Main Street (Route 6A)

Cotuit: Cotuit Center for the Arts: 4404 Falmouth Road (Route 28)

Falmouth: Falmouth Academy's Simon Center for the Arts, 7 Highfield Drive, Falmouth

Ticket orders received on or after July 8: $38 general admission; $15 for college students (with ID); FREE for attendees 18 and under. General admission to three or more concerts: $36 per ticket. Emerson String Quartet concert: $55.

Festival seating is limited to venue capacity, advance purchase is recommended. Tickets purchased online can be printed at home or picked up at will call at the performances. Tickets may also be purchased by calling or visiting the box office at 508-247-9400 or at 3 Main Street, Unit 6, North Eastham. Box office hours are 10 am to 3 pm, Monday through Friday. Phone orders are available until 12 noon on the day of each concert.

About the Cape Cod Chamber Music Festival

Hailed by The New York Times as "A Triumph of Quality," the Cape Cod Chamber Music Festival (CCCMF) has been a year-round presenter of chamber music and a major contributor to the cultural life of Cape Cod since its inception in 1979. Founded as the Cape & Islands Chamber Music Festival by the late collaborative pianist Samuel Sanders, the Festival continues his legacy. Now entering its 38th season, CCCMF presents four weeks of intensive chamber music programming in a variety of Cape locations in July and August. Throughout the rest of the year, CCCMF presents autumn and spring concerts, a community outreach program, and benefit concerts in New York and on Cape Cod.
