If you are in the room, you're in the show! In Sunjata Kamalenya audiences of all ages participate in a unique "experiential theater" production. The epic of Sunjata chronicles the struggles of a boy destined to be the savior of the Mandé people of West Africa. He must first overcome the adversity of bullying from other children and then the dangerous world of sorcery. Traditional African music, costumes, and scenery whisk you away to a village compound where the jelimuso (storyteller) guides you to 13th century Mali. Audiences have a unique experience that celebrates the spirit of determination and the love of family in the face of seemingly-impossible odds.
Ages: Recommended for ages 5 and older.
