Celebrating silliness with another whistle-stop tour to outdoor venues around the UK, Slapstick Picnic returns with a spirited adaptation of J.M Barrie’s Peter Pan this summer. A production that’s fun for all the family, audiences are encouraged never to grow up in this hectic multi-roling production with hapless pirates, feral children and a particularly punctual reptile. With just three actors swapping wigs, wings and waistcoats to play all the parts, and told with Slapstick Picnic’s characteristic breakneck pace, this polished piece of buffoonery always seems just one step away from going completely overboard.

In 1992 Barrie generously gifted his copyright of Peter Pan to Great Ormond Street Hospital and in recognition of this, Slapstick Picnic will be donating a percentage of ticket sales to Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Director Nel Crouch said, “I’m so excited to be working with Slapstick Picnic again this summer on their second outdoor touring show. The company’s motto is to celebrate silliness and that’s exactly what we intend to do with our version of Peter Pan. Expect outlandish costumes, sword fights with baguettes and spades of slapstick. And all whilst enjoying a delicious picnic in a beautiful outdoor setting. What more could you want from your summer?"

Slapstick Picnic serve up classic tales with an untraditional twist, touring theatre across the UK with a pinch of naughtiness and lashings of atmosphere. This isn’t about reverence and snobbiness, it’s about having a good time and celebrating silliness. Slapstick Picnic comes from the mad minds that created the award-winning touring company, The HandleBards, who are currently touring Shakespeare’s classic romantic comedy A Midsummer Night’s Dream until 9th September as part of their tenth anniversary celebrations.
