Four years after the retirement of audience favourite Brian Jackson, the Victoria Symphony in Victoria, BC, has announced the appointment of arranger, composer and conductor Sean O'Loughlin as the new Principal Pops Conductor.

"Sean has a natural connection with the Victoria Symphony Pops audience and has built a wonderful relationship with the musicians over the past few years. We're thrilled to have such a talented, well versed musician join the Victoria Symphony" said CEO Kathryn Laurin. "Sean will begin his tenure with the VS during the 2018/19 season and is already involved in programming next season."

Seen as a fresh voice and a rising name in the music world, he's been associated as conductor/arranger with some of the most popular pop artists of the century including Sarah McLachlan, Adele, Jerry Garcia, Steven Tyler, and Kelly Clarkson, and most recently as the conductor for Josh Groban's North American tour. He is currently the Principal Pops Conductor of Symphoria, a new pops symphony in Syracuse, New York.

He has had commissions from the Boston Pops, Hollywood Bowl Orchestra and the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra. Sean has been an annual ASCAP Special Awards winner, was a composition fellow at the Henry Mancini Institute in Los Angeles, and holds composition degrees from New England Conservatory and Syracuse University.
