Alberta Female Filmmaker Receives Two New Prestigious International Awards Image

Carolyn Bridget Kennedy of Demure Duchess Pictures has won the award for Best Original Story, among all genres, from Los Angeles Film Awards for her short comedy film "Super Speed Dates". "We loved the story and the performances", said the jury for the festival. This makes 13 awards and laurels so far for the Alberta production, including an Award of Merit from Canada Shorts Film Festival.

Kennedy has also just won a Leading Actress award from Accolade Global Film Competition (California) for her portrayal of Michelle in her comedy web series "Danger Pay". This is in addition to her prior win for Leading Actress from IndieFEST Film Awards (California). "Danger Pay" currently has 20 awards and laurels, including wins for Best Sketch Comedy at Asia Web Awards (Korea) and an Award of Merit from Elevation Indie Film Awards (Ireland).

"All of the accolades for 'Super Speed Dates' and 'Danger Pay' are an amazing tribute to everyone involved in bringing these projects to life. The personal wins for my acting and the win for Best Original Story for my writing are particularly gratifying", said Kennedy. "I can hardly wait to share 'Super Speed Dates' online in early 2018 after it has completed its run in festivals."

"Super Speed Dates" is about a group of women who attend a speed dating event and meet honest, but odd, men. Kennedy wrote, produced, and acted in "Super Speed Dates" as well as directed some of its scenes. "Danger Pay" is about Michelle, a paralegal who accepts a job that pays more than usual to work for a bizarre lawyer who is a narcissistic man-child. In addition to being the female lead, Kennedy is also the creator, writer, and producer of "Danger Pay".

"Danger Pay" can be watched on YouTube and on Will Ferrell's comedy website Funny or Die.
