Soprano Jennifer Davis and pianist Lada Valesova present a captivating programme exploring the many facets of the female experience through song.
From the playful wit and elegance of Francis Poulenc’s Métamorphoses to the passionate lyricism of Rachmaninov’s Op. 38 songs, the recital journeys through love, longing, dreams, desire and memory. Along the way, audiences will encounter some of the most cherished music in the soprano repertoire, including Tatyana’s heartfelt Letter Scene from Eugene Onegin, Strauss’s radiant Heimliche Aufforderung, Liszt’s dramatic Die Loreley, and Dvoák’s beloved Song to the Moon and Songs My Mother Taught Me.
Interwoven with the vocal programme are solo piano works by Josef Suk and Poulenc, performed by acclaimed pianist Lada Valesova, adding further colour and contrast to an evening rich in atmosphere and emotion.
By turns intimate, passionate, reflective and joyful, The Heart of a Woman offers a musical portrait of love, imagination and the enduring power of the human voice.
