Traditional Panto BEAUTY AND THE BEAST Comes to Theatre Royal Winchester

Theatre Royal Winchester's traditional family pantomime Beauty and the Beast - which launched at The Brooks Shopping Centre in September - opens Saturday 1 December, headlining Christmas at the venue.

This magical new pantomime promises to tickle your final bone and break your heart in equal measure and has been produced by the same team behind 2017's smash-hit sell-out Peter Pan: James Barry, writer and director, Simon Slater, music and Rachel Fox, production design.

Theatre Royal Winchester is delighted to welcome back the much-loved Julian Eardley as Dame Dotty, Ed Thorpe (who was nominated in last year's Great British Pantomime Awards for his performance as Smee in Peter Pan) as Wally, and Eleanor Bennett (who played Wendy in 2017's production) returns as Belle. The ensemble cast also features Nathan Turner (Prince/Beast), Alice Bonifacio (Fairy Fifi), Tim Faulkner (Dad), Kristopher Milnes (Bouffon) and Sarah Annakin as villain of the piece, Malevolent. An ensemble cast of talented locally-based young people will support the main cast.

When a vain and handsome prince rejects the advances of a wicked witch, she turns him into a hideous beast. Only one thing can save him - someone must fall in love with him before the last petal falls from an enchanted rose. Can Fairy Fifi bring Belle and the Beast together in time, or will the evil Malevolent win the day?

Theatre Royal Winchester is proud to present a selection of Accessible Performances this Christmas. On Wednesday 12 December there is a British Sign Language Interpreted Performance and the first of two Relaxed Performances inviting audiences to enjoy a show with the lights up a little and the sound down a touch. The second Relaxed Performance takes place on Tuesday 1 January. The venue will also host an Audio Described Performance on Sunday 16 December for visually impaired audiences where a narrator describes the action on the stage through a set of headphones. Full information can be found on the website or via the Box Office.

Featuring original songs, hilarious gags and audience participation aplenty, Beauty and the Beast is the perfect festive treat for the whole family.

Beauty and the Beast is at Theatre Royal Winchester Saturday 1 December to Sunday 6 January 2019. Tickets are available from theatreroyalwinchester.co.uk and from the Box Office 01962 840 440.

Beauty and the Beast is sponsored by The Brooks Shopping Centre.
