Multi-Award winning Theatre503 continues its commitment to new writers with the UK premiere of Many Moons (press night Friday 20th May) by Alice Birch. In her first full-length play, Birch delicately weaves together the paths of four people in Church Street, Stoke Newington on a single, sweltering day.

Set to an original score by Ellis James and Benson Taylor, Many Moons delves into the minds of four neighbours. In turn hopeful and resigned, they grasp for stability as they slide past one another on a seemingly ordinary day, unaware that their lives will converge in surprising and sinister ways.

Juniper is looking for love, Robert Is trying to avoid it, Ollie doesn't know what it is and Meg has resigned herself to never having it. As these four people move through a July day in London, they orbit each other, unaware that they are hurtling towards one moment that could devastate them all.

Alice Birch graduated from Exeter University in 2009. She has since been on attachment to The National Theatre and is a graduate of the Royal Court Young Writers Invitation Programme. She is currently writing pieces for Rose Bruford final year students, alongside Ben Ockrent, Ella Hickson and Nick Payne. Other writing credits include PLAYlist (Theatre 503); Bonfires (Arcola / Miniaturists); Come to Where I'm From (Paines Plough); 24 Hour Plays (Old Vic) and Limbs (Nabakov).

Many Moons is directed by Derek Bond and designed by James Perkins with lighting by Sally Ferguson and original music by Ellis James and Benson Taylor.

His credits as Assistant Director include: The Clean House (UK Tour); The Waltz of The Toreadors (Chichester Festival Theatre); Martha, Josie & the Chinese Elvis (Birmingham Rep and tour); The Alchemist and The History Boys (National Theatre) and Macbeth (Almeida).
