Kneehigh returns to Lyric Hammersmith this September with the London premiere of
The Wild Bride, a lyrical tale with a brutal edge and a beating heart in a story which tells what happens when your father accidentally sells you to the Devil.

Inspired by the original Grimm fairytale The Handless Maiden, this dramatic re-working uses a heady mix of storytelling, devilish humour, poetic physicality and live soul music to chart one girl's journey into adulthood.

Previous Kneehigh productions at Lyric Hammersmith include Cymbeline and Nights at the Circus, and Lyric Artistic Director Sean Holmes is delighted to welcome the company back, commenting:

‘The Kneehigh team never fail to challenge and delight our audiences with their innovative work. Their previous productions at the Lyric have been inspirational and I'm sure we can expect some adventurous and visually stunning theatre.'

Kneehigh is one of Britain's most innovative theatre companies. For 30 years the company has created vigorous, popular and challenging theatre for audiences throughout the UK and beyond. Amongst their most recent productions are the inimitable Brief Encounter, The Red Shoes, The Umbrellas of Cherbourg and Hansel & Gretel. Based in Cornwall they work with an ever-changing ensemble of performers, musicians, artists, technicians and administrators and are passionate about a multi-disciplined creative process.
