Five new shows, including Sheffield Theatres' annual Christmas pantomime, have been confirmed as part of Sheffield Theatres spring/summer 2012 season and will go on-sale on Saturday 4 February.

Grease will visit the Lyceum Theatre this May. Danny Bayne (winner of ITV's Grease Is The Word, Hairspray) will star as Danny. He is joined by Carina Gillespie (Grease, Buddy) as Sandy and RhydIan Roberts (X Factor) will play Teen Angel.

Musicals continue in June with Hair, which comes to the Theatre as part of its first ever UK tour.

About Hair: Hair follows a group of people who fight for peace, love and freedom in 1960s New York. Directed and choreographed by Gary Lloyd (Thriller Live, X Factor), this musical spectacular stars Pop Idol sensation Gareth Gates, alongside fellow Pop Idol finalist Zoe Birkett and BBC1's Over the Rainbow finalist Amy Diamond. Capturing the mood and movement of the times, Hair is the original rock musical and features classic songs such as Aquarius, Let the Sunshine in and the infectious title track Hair.

The History of the Big Bands brings another X Factor star, Andy Abraham, to the Lyceum stage on Wednesday 23 May. Singing live with his 13-piece big band, audiences will be "taken on a musical journey that revisits the very best of the swing era in an evening of high energy, virtuoso musicianship and wonderful songs."

Also in May, Breakin' Convention, the festival of hip hop dance theatre, will entertain audiences once more with performances from local and International Artists, including performances from Clash 66 (France & Korea) and World B-Boy champions Vagabond Crew (France).

Finally, following on Sleeping Beauty in 2011, this year's Lyceum Theatre pantomime, Cinderella, promises to "be bigger and better than ever." On from Friday 7 December 2012 – Sunday 6 January 2013, this magical fairytale is the sixth pantomime produced by Sheffield Theatres and Evolution Pantomimes, and will see Sheffield's favourite comedy genius, DamIan Williams, take on the role of Cinderella's trusty sidekick Buttons.
