Lyric Hammersmith Presents SAVED
By: BWW News Desk
Lyric Hammersmith Artistic Director Sean Holmes presents Edward Bond's seminal play in the first part of a collection of the renowned playwright's work. Saved, which has not been seen in London for over 25 years, is a notoriously vivid portrait of working class South London and one of the most talked-about plays of the 20th century.
The original production of Saved acted as a catalyst for the repealing of UK theatre censorship regulations. Despite being condemned for its violence and depictions of abuse, Bond called it ‘almost irresponsibly optimistic'. This will be the first time the playwright has allowed the work to be staged in London since 1984.Dates Thursday 06 October - Saturday 05 NovemberTimes Evenings 7.30pm / Matinees 1.30pm 02 November & 2.30pm 19, 22, 29 October & 05 November
