Icons Season: A Series of Post-Show Q&As and Meal Deals Announced

The St. James Studio excitedly announces a series of free post-show Q&As to encourage further discourse about each of the five productions in the Icons Season, running from 03 - 25 January 2015 in the St. James Studio. There will also be a number of limited edition, specially mixed cocktails and meal deals available throughout the season as well as the previously announced film screenings.

The St. James Theatre in association with International Images will be selling a selection of iconic prints in the Frank Worth Collection, which currently adorn the walls of the theatre, featuring the likes of Marilyn Monroe, Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor to name a few.

Bette & Joan: The Final Curtain

To accompany the first production there will be a post-show Q&A on Tuesday 06 January. The host will be Bette Davis expert Dr. Martin Shingler and the panel will comprise the cast and creative team (Sarah Thom, Sarah Toogood, Rebecca McCutcheon, James Greaves).

Dr. Martin Shingler is a senior lecturer in Radio & Film at the University of Sunderland (UK). He's the author ofStar Studies: A Critical Guide (2012) and the co-editor of the BFI Film Star book series. He has published 14 essays on the work of the Hollywood actress Bette Davis and is currently writing a book for Palgrave Macmillan entitled When Warners Brought Broadway to Hollywood, 1923-39. Martin has also been appeared on BBC Radio 4's Woman's Hour to discuss the appeal and psychology of iconography, and at events such as the illustrated talk Happy 100th Birthday Bette Davis at the BFI Southbank, as part of the London Lesbian & Gay Film Festival (2008).

A screening of What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? (1962) will take place on Sunday 04 January at 3.30pm.

Dylan Thomas: Clown in the Moon and Burton

The second and third productions will be followed by post-show Q&As on Tuesday 13 and Wednesday 14 January respectively. St. James Creative Director James Albrecht will join the performer and co-creator of both one-man shows, welsh actor Rhodri Miles. Subject to availability, Andrew Sinclair, director of Under Milk Wood (1972) will join the panel on Tuesday 13 or Wednesday 14 January.

Rhodri Miles established Miles Productions in 2009 with the one man show Burton, written by Gwynne Edwards, which won Best International Show and Best Actor Award for Rhodri Miles at the Hollywood Fringe Festival 2010. Rhodri and Gwynne collaborated again on another solo show Dylan Thomas: Clown in the Moon which premiered in February 2014 as the part of the yearlong Dylan 100 Festival.

Other theatre credits include Othello for The Sheffield Crucible Theatres, Pride and Prejudice and Fish Out of Water both for Bristol Old Vic. Notable screen credits include Rupert Goold's Richard II, Torchwood and Eastern Promises, and he is currently filming the next series of Game of Thrones.

A screening of Under Milk Wood (1972) will take place on Thursday 15 January at 5pm.

The Unremarkable Death of Marilyn Monroe and Miss Dietrich Regrets

To supplement the final two plays in the season, Jonny Bunyan, founder and presenter of RadioJiblets.com, will be hosting two post-show Q&As. The first on Friday 16 January, with Lizzie Wort who plays Marilyn Monroe in The Unremarkable Death of Marilyn Monroe and the second with Elizabeth Counsell of Miss Dietrich Regrets onThursday 22 January. Both Q&As will be recorded for a two-part episode of Jonny's show on Radio Jiblets, which will focus on the femme fatales Marilyn Monroe and Marlene Dietrich.

A screening of Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953) will take place on Saturday 17 January at 5pm and a screening ofMorocco (1930) will take place on Saturday 24 January at 5pm.

Three classic cocktails have been specially created for the Icons Season. Channel your inner icon with the following drinks on offer:

Bette & Joan Bust-up - Napoleon Mandarin brandy confronted with fresh lemon and orange, then topped with ginger beer.

Gin 'n' Thomas - Stunning King of Soho gin mixed with a subtle elderflower liqueur, fresh raspberries and mint, then topped with Fevertree tonic water for the ultimate G&T.

Marilyn Martini - Our Martini made your way to give you the ending you deserve. Choose from Finlandia vodka or Bombay Sapphire gin and watch our bartenders create heaven in a glass.

Throughout the Icons Season there will be a meal deal on offer in the Carrara restaurant of one course + drink for only £18. The Carrara is situated on the first floor of the theatre, accessible via the spectacular Carrara marble staircase, Final Encore. There will also be a meal deal in the ground floor Bar & Brasserie; Burger and a Beer for £12, ideal for those wanting a quick bite between a film screening and the evening performance.
