Greenwich Dance has announced that professional class has arrived back in South East London!

Daily classes commenced on the 1st October and have been received by many happy dancers thrilled to be able to train in Greenwich again.

"Greenwich Dance's new home at Charlton House feels like a continuation of their recent spirit and heritage - a beautiful characterful setting." Matthew Winston, dancer and attendee of professional class for over 10 years.

Classes are based in the beautiful Old Library in Charlton House, a Jacobean manor house located centrally within the borough of Greenwich. They remain at the familiar time of 10.30 - 12.00, giving dancers the opportunity to buy cheap day returns should they be travelling by train.

As ever, the line up of teachers is diverse and exciting. Theo Clinkard, Renaud Wiser, Jean Abreu and Mathieu Geffre have each led successful weeks in our new space. Coming up between now and Christmas we have Leah Marojevic, Ben McEwen, Maria Ghoumrassi, Amy Butler, Annie Lok and Sonia Rafferty.

Technique Classes take place Monday to Thursday and Greenwich Dance encourage dancers to book online in advance to avoid disappointment.

Plus we have an brand new addition to our programme! Every Friday, Performance Enhancement Coach, Khyle Eccles, is leading a rain or shine Outdoor Fitness Class for Dancers. Within this unique session, Khyle will work to develop athletic ability to support dancers to be industry ready, particularly in relation to outdoor and site specific work (for which Greenwich Dance has become renowned).

Says Khyle Eccles:

"I'll be developing overall fitness, yes, but it will be much more than that. From a body point of view, we want to develop tissue integrity, energy systems, recovery strategies, and overall work potential. We're looking to achieve a supplementary training session that supports your work as a dance professional. From a community point of view, we want to develop a training tribe. A tribe of like-minded movers who can support and push each other to develop and improve their overall physical capacity."

Says Matthew Winston, professional dancer

"As a professional dance artist who has been based in South East London for over 10 years, Greenwich Dance has been a vital tool and touchstone for me. Their classes are an invaluable resource for myself and others and it feels significant for Greenwich Dance as an organisation that they are once again providing high quality daily professional class for artists in the region. Their new home at Charlton House feels like a continuation of their recent spirit and heritage - a beautiful characterful setting for a wonderful organisation."

Says CEO Melanie Precious

"For years dancers have been coming to Greenwich to train and so I knew, as soon as I started in post, that professional class was to be one of the first things we rebuilt to ensure our community of independent dance artists can continue to be served. We have had such lovely responses from dancers who have attended classes this Autumn, many of who have enjoyed lingering in the café afterwards enjoying a coffee and the views across the beautiful gardens. For us its been magical to have artists permeating our office space again, full of their ideas and creativity. It keeps us connected to the very people we are here to support."

Travel information: Charlton House is short walk from Charlton Station or a bus ride from North Greenwich Tube. It is on bus routes: 53, 54, 380, 422 and 486
