In DEATH IN VENICE - Thomas Mann's 1912 novella and Luchino Visconti's 1972 film starring Dirk Bogarde - von Aschenbach becomes increasingly obsessed by Tadzio, a beautiful youth. Although the two never speak, the boy is clearly aware of the older man's attention and a silent relationship grows between them that lasts until the writer's final day on the Lido beach.

A teenager on the verge of manhood, with the world apparently at his fingertips - yet neither book nor film reveal anything of Tadzio's inner life. What went through the boy's mind when he realised what was happening? Did he welcome or fear the writer's gaze? What impact did their encounter have on him? Decades later Tadzio looks back at that fateful summer in Venice. Finally, Tadzio speaks . . .

This one-man play features Christopher Peacock, well-known to Londoners for over a decade as a roving reporter for ITV'sLondon Tonight. Since 2008, when Christopher turned to acting, he has been seldom off stage, most recently as Canon Chasuble inThe Importance of Being Earnest in Brighton, Sir Johnstone Kentley in Rope in Bracknell), Lovewit in The Alchemist in Walton-on-Thames and the Player King in Hamlet in Greenwich.

Written and directed by Martin Foreman, the author of two novels (Weekend and The Butterfly's Wing), two short story collections, as well as Californian Lives, which received critical acclaim at the King's Head Theatre, London, earlier this year.
