Covent Garden Hosts ONCE UPON A CHRISTMAS Today

By:

Join the team of Elves in charge of making sure Christmas runs smoothly as they get given free reign of Covent Garden's boutiques, bars, restaurants for 4 weeks leading up to Christmas as immersive Theatre Company Look Left Look Right take over the district from today, 18 November 2013.

Once Upon a Christmas, a theatrical adventure in Covent Garden, is the latest production from Look Left Look Right, the theatre company which has received acclaim for its previous interactive and immersive productions You Once Said Yes (Edinburgh Fringe 2012/13) and Above and Beyond (Corinthia Hotel 2013). Once Upon a Christmas will take audiences on a journey around Covent Garden's shops, bars, and restaurants and the London Transport Museum on a mission to save Christmas from disaster. Accessing their inner Elf, audiences will have individual encounters with Christmas characters conventional and distinctly unconventional. The decisions that they take will have an impact on the outcome of the story - It is up to you to save Christmas.

Setting out at intervals of 7 minutes each pair of audience members will be dispatched off to help Elf and his friends rescue Christmas in a journey that will last approximately an hour. Working their way around parts of Covent Garden the public never normally gets to see, as well as more recognisable and familiar landmarks of one of London's most famous neighbourhoods, the production will take its inspiration from Covent Garden's rich heritage as the birthplace of street performance in London.

Known for delivering unique cultural experiences to celebrate Christmas, Once Upon a Christmas will join a distinguished roll call of creative projects to take up residence in Covent Garden throughout the festive season, including the magical LEGO advent calendar in 2012, filmmaker Martha Fiennes's world-first 3D digital in 2011 and designer Paul Cocksedge's Merry Kissmas tree, powered by human interaction, in 2010.

Written by Morgan Lloyd Malcolm and Katie Lyons the writing team behind You Once Said Yes and Above and Beyond, and directed by Mimi Poskitt, Once Upon a Christmas promises to be the essential alternative Christmas show for 2013, turning Covent Garden into a twisted theatrical playground.
