Conrad Lynch has stepped down as Artistic Director of Theatre by the Lake (TBTL) after opening THE OTHER PLACE, directed by Claire van Kampen at Park Theatre the final show in his acclaimed second summer season.

His tenure at this stunningly located venue has seen the Company produce five world premieres and forge links with major partners across the UK including Jermyn Street Theatre, Park Theatre, The Royal Exchange, Shared Experience, Sherman Theatre and York Theatre Royal.

Conrad, who took up the position in September 2016, will return to being a freelance producer based in the Eden Valley.

He said, "This is a great opportunity for a new Artistic Director to work with the Administrative Director and the Joint Chair on the next phase of TBTL's artistic development. It has been a privilege to work in Keswick, creating fantastic work for our audiences and participants. I'd like to thank the amazing group of artists who have made and performed in my productions, our Friends, donors and volunteers for their never-ending support and the wonderful TBTL staff across all departments."

Graham Lamont and Vicky Robinson, Joint Chair of the Board of Cumbria Theatre Trust, said " We thank Conrad for the work he has done supporting theatre in exploring and developing new ways of working, creating new partnerships and joint productions and we wish him well in the future".
