Tomorrow (Thursday 10th) submissions are open for China Plate's First Bite Festival 2017. This festival of new theatre-making takes place in the Midlands, and for the first time will take place across three events: at Attenborough Arts Centre in Leicester on 25th March, at Derby Theatre on 7th April, and at mac Birmingham on 22nd April.

The Festival will see regional theatre companies show work in progress, test new material and look for feedback to help them develop their shows. Three of the pieces seen across the First Bite events will be commissioned by the festival partners and guaranteed slots at Bite Size Festival at Warwick Arts Centre in October 2017.

Previous shows commissioned from the First Bite Festival include Caroline Horton's award-winning and Olivier Award-nominated You're Not Like The Other Girls Chrissy, which has toured since 2010 and viewed by over 10,000 people, Our Fathers by Babakas, which won critical acclaim at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2013 and has toured internationally, and The Road to Huntsville by Stephanie Ridings, which was recently seen at Summerhall at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
