By Jove's uproarious take on Jane Austen's beloved novel is back. Following a packed out run at the White Bear Theatre Club last year, the company bring Pride & Prejudice: The Panto to The Cockpit for three shows only in honour of the 200th anniversary of the book's publication and coinciding with Austen's 22nd birthday.

Pitched as a battle between 'good fairy' Jane Austen and her wicked word-smith antagonist, Charles Dickens, the familiar story unfolds in the absurd, anarchic world of pantomime. Young Elizabeth Bennet and her sisters, cajoled by their mother (and of course, our dame) Mrs Bennet into marrying, must overcome the perils of passions, scandals, and wet shirts in the pursuit of a husband. Will Dickens succeed in thwarting Austen's heroines, or will they all eventually find love and, more importantly, happiness?

A guaranteed evening of raucous entertainment and jolly good fun, Pride & Prejudice: The Panto is sure to be a great night out for lovers of the book, the series, the films, or simply those looking for some pre-Christmas cheer.

By Jove are an award-winning ensemble that interpret myths, legends, and works from the cultural canon into politically-edged theatre for 21st century Britain. With a distinct focus on new writing and political comedy, the company's previous show, The Women Screaming Beyond, premiered at the Courtyard in 2012 to high praise. The company also run a monthly new writing night - LoveArts - in BethnAl Green celebrating the diversity of London's fringe art community.

Pride & Prejudice: The Panto was adapted from the novel by James Walker-Black and Heather Remington, based on an original idea by David Bullen, Simon Sladen, and James Walker-Black. It is directed by David Bullen, with musical arrangements by Todd James, and designs by Susanna Dye. It stars Ria Cajee, Lauren Clancey, SJ Brady, David Bullen, Shiraz Engineer, Joe Feeney, Daisy Jervis, Sian Mayhall-Purvis, Beth Teverson, James Walker-Black, Chloe Wilcox, and Alexander Woodward.
