Birmingham Hippodrome is looking to unearth hidden young talent in Birmingham for their first ever youth production of West Side Story on their main stage in August 2019. Based on Romeo & Juliet, West Side Story is a tale of teenage love on the streets of New York.

Open auditions are being held for anyone aged 14-25 with a talent for singing, dancing, acting or performing. Their production is looking for a diverse, eclectic cast with raw talent, so from breakin' to ballet, or street dance to soul, all talent is welcome at the open auditions. There is no need to have any stage experience or formal training.

Initial auditions take place on Sat 26 or Sun 27 Jan in the form of an hour and a half workshop. Everyone auditioning must prepare an excerpt of a song to share on the day that is no longer than 90 seconds, it can either be musical theatre, RnB or jazz.

Birmingham Hippodrome Producer Kerry Andrews, said: "We can't wait to find the incredible talent in our city for an exciting new production of the classic musical West Side Story. This is a fantastic opportunity for young people to work with a professional team and perform in the main auditorium here at the theatre, something that has never been done before here."
