Amused Moose Comedy's National New Comic Award Launches Soon

The prestigious Amused Moose Comedy's National New Comic Award contest which searches out 2018's hottest breakthrough stars in the making, who will battle for glory, fame and ultimately the shiny moose trophy, is about to launch. This exciting talent search is impressive for discovering unknown comedy stars of the future such as previous winners Sarah Millican and Jack Whitehall, with finalists including Josh Widdicombe, Romesh Ranganathan, Jimmy Carr, Katherine Ryan, Kevin Bridges and Greg Davies.
350 entrants from across the UK and Ireland submitted a clip of them performing stand-up or sketches onstage, which were viewed online and sifted by illustrious comedy industry panellists across the UK and around the world.
The highest scoring 80 are about to perform live in quarterfinals, every Saturday in February and March, with the top three in each quarterfinal winning through to the semi-finals every Saturday in April, at Amused Moose Comedy venues in central London. Each Saturday there will be a guest appearance by recent finalists and winners, including 2017's winner Jack Gleadow (7 April), Harriet Braine (14 April) and Alistair Williams (10 Feb).
The quarterfinals and semi-finals will be hosted by Alex Zane, Mark Dolan and Ian Smith, with the final taking place during the Edinburgh Fringe, on the evening of Sunday 19 August, at the palatial and extremely comfortable Symposium Hall.
Uniquely all the audiences vote, as well as those of our industry panel, during all live rounds of the competition.
Amused Moose Comedy provides a great launch pad because large numbers of comedy industry professionals including agents, managers, promoters, bookers, producers, critics and PRs from around the UK, but also from Australia, Canada and the USA, accept guestlist invitations to quarterfinals and semifinals, as well as the Final. So this competition is an extremely effective and proven way for new comedy talent to get spotted and get their career off to a flying start!
As well as all the finalists being given the perfect platform from which to launch their comedy career, the winner of the Amused Moose National New Comic title will also receive a shiny moose trophy, with the opportunity to perform as part of Amused Moose Comedy's Awardwinners Showcases which traditionally takes place in October at Soho Theatre, London's foremost comedy theatre, to which those comedy scouts and industry who have been unable to see them onstage until then, are invited.
Amused Moose Comedy Awards have proved to be a fantastic shop window for new talent, with finalists being quickly signed by leading agents and promoters including Off The Kerb, Avalon, Chambers Management, UTC Artist Management and PBJ Management.
