One can simply never tell, when entering The Stables

Just what theatrics await - the lighting, sets and fables

A Fleming adaptation, of the famous Moliere

A ticket to The Literati is sure to find you there

Enter to a love story, of Juliet and Clint

Opposed by sis Amanda, who cannot take a hint

The lovers wish to marry, and Jules' father concurs

But mother Philomena thinks the choice is solely hers

And woe betide the couple, for Philly's got her nose

On dreadful Tristan Tosser and his masturbatory prose

So begins the drama, and the hilarity too

To see that there's no use in brains, if you've not good sense too

Miranda Tapsell showed great heart, played like a ballerina

But won the audience applause as gutter-mouthed Martina

Kate Mulvany kept her cool, and kept the stalls in stitches

Looking down her nose just like the most expert of bitches

Doubling as Dad and Clint, was Jamie Oxenbould

Bringing sweat and style to The Literati's fold

Props to Gareth Davies too for mastering the game

Truly put the Tosser in his character's name

These stars were gold on stage, directed by Lee Lewis

Whose physical gags out of the water absolutely blew us

Justin Fleming's rhyme, more refined than this review

Simply brought the house down, so get your butt down to

A play of heart and smarts, to fill you with such elation

That you'll find yourself unable to defer a standing ovation

Tickets for The Literati are available from the Griffin Theatre Company website.
