World Premiere of SOUPS, STEWS, AND CASSEROLES: 1976 Concludes The Rep's 2013-14 Studio Theatre Series, 3/12-30

The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis (The Rep) concludes its 2013-2014 Studio Theatre series with the topical Soups, Stews and Casseroles: 1976 by Rebecca Gilman and directed by Seth Gordon. This moving production will be performed in the Emerson Studio Theatre at the Loretto-Hilton Center for the Performing Arts, 130 Edgar Road (on the campus of Webster University), Webster Groves, March 12-30, 2014.

Curtain times are Tuesday at 7 pm; Wednesday-Friday at 8 pm; Saturday evenings at 5 pm; selected Saturday nights at 9 pm; Sunday matinees at 2 pm and Sunday evenings at 7 pm.

When the main employer in Monroe, Wisconsin is acquired by a major manufacturer, a once peaceful small town turns into a battleground as families struggle to retain their independence, identity and livelihoods. While new opportunities develop for some, difficult choices must be made, putting loyalties and relationships to the test.

This world premiere play has been commissioned by The Rep and was developed through the Ignite! New Play Festival.

The cast of Soups, Stews and Casseroles: 1976 is Nancy Bell (Clybourne Park) as Kat, Susan Greenhill (Next Fall) as Joanne, Jerzy Gwiazdowski as Kyle, Mhari Sandoval as Elaine, Vincent Teninty as Kim and Emma Wisniewski as Kelly.

The Rep's production of Soups, Stews and Casseroles: 1976 is directed by Rep Associate Artistic Director Seth Gordon.

The creative staff also includes Kevin Depinet, set designer; Lou Bird, costume designer; John Wylie, lighting designer; Rusty Wandall, sound designer; Rich Cole, casting director; and Emilee Buchheit, stage manager.

In collaboration with Operation Food Search and St. Louis Magazine, The Rep is pleased to present Soups, Stews and Casseroles for the Hungry Soul, a one-of-a-kind event featuring music, art and comfort food tastings, all to benefit Operation Food Search's child focused weekend feeding program, Operation Backpack, on Monday, March 10 from 6-8:30pm in the lobby of the Loretto-Hilton Center. Event highlights will include: comfort food tasting by chefs featured in St. Louis Chefs' Recipes-Volume II; 1970s record spin by Rob Levy, host of KDHX radio's "Juxtaposition"; live pancake art by artist, designer, cartoonist and rapper Dr. Dan the Pancake Man; special display of retro 1970s kitchenware, courtesy of The Future Antiques; tours of The Rep's Studio Theatre and set for Soups, Stews and Casseroles: 1976 led by Rep Associate Artistic Director Seth Gordon, and more. Honorary hosts include Byron Kerman, writer, St. Louis Magazine; Mallory Nezam, Co-Creator, The Poetree Project and Founding Director, STL Improv Anywhere; and Steven Fitzpatrick Smith, Owner, The Royale.
