Webster University Conservatory Ends Run of THE WEDDING SINGER, 5/2

By: May. 02, 2010

Webster University's Conservatory of Theatre Arts closes its production of THE WEDDING SINGER, THE MUSICAL COMEDY, May 2 in the Browning Theatre of Webster's Loretto-Hilton Center, 130 Edgar Road.  THE WEDDING SINGER, THE MUSICAL COMEDY is based on the 1998 film "The Wedding Singer," with music by Matthew Sklar, lyrics by Chad Beguelin and book by Chad Beguelin and Tim Herlihy. THE WEDDING SINGER is directed by Lara Teeter, head of the Conservatory's Musical Theatre Program.

Eighties pop culture is back in the Tony-nominated Broadway musical comedy, THE WEDDING SINGER. It's 1985 and rock-star wannabe Robbie Hart is New Jersey's favorite wedding singer and an aspiring rock star. He's the life of the party until his fiancée leaves him at the altar. Shot through the heart, Robbie makes every wedding he plays as disastrous as his own. Enter Julia, a winsome waitress who wins his affection. The only trouble is Julia is about to be married to a Wall Street shark, and unless Robbie can pull off the performance of the decade, the girl of his dreams will be gone forever. THE WEDDING SINGER takes us back to a time when hair was big, greed was good, collars were up, and a wedding singer just might be the coolest guy in the room.
