Slatkin Withdraws From Chamber Music Society's 10th Anniversary Gala The Chamber Music Society of St. Louis (CMMSL) today announced that Maestro Leonard Slatkin must regrettably withdraw from his upcoming appearance at the CMSSL's 10th Anniversary Gala "Notes From Hollywood - The Sequel" May 21, 2018. Slatkin will undergo heart bypass surgery next week and is expected to fully recover in about three months. He is also cancelling upcoming dates in Europe and with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra.

The Gala was scheduled to honor Slatkin and his return to the St. Louis area as a permanent resident. "We received communication from Leonard and Cindy Slatkin that Leonard Will undergo heart bypass surgery next week and regrettably is unable to participate in our gala," explains Marc Gordon, Executive and Artistic Director of CMSSL. "Leonard is expected to fully recover in about three months. CMSSL has put all matters related to our 10th Anniversary Gala on hold and will announce a decision on how to proceed early next week. Of course, we all wish Leonard well and a speedy recovery."

"Unfortunately, I cannot make the trip to St. Louis later this month. To say that I am disappointed is very much an understatement.," expressed Slatkin.

CMSSL's ninth season concludes on Monday, May 7th at 7:30pm with "The 3 B's - Bach, Beethoven & Brahms." An international array of musical offerings were featured throughout their 2017-18 season in the Sheldon Ballroom and Concert Hall (3648 Washington Blvd., Grand Center, St. Louis, MO 63108).
