John Pizzarelli has had a multi-faceted career as a jazz guitarist, vocalist and bandleader. Pizzarelli returns to the stage for Sheldon Gala 2011, a very special evening co-chaired by Chris and Molly Danforth and Don and Mary Pillsbury Wainwright.

Pizzarelli's performance will feature music from his latest album, Rockin' in Rhythm, a tribute to jazz pianist/composer Duke Ellington, whom Pizzarelli calls "jazz's greatest star!" Songs such as "Don't Get Around Much Anymore," "I'm Beginning to See the Light," "Satin Doll" and "In My Solitude" are re-interpreted with Pizzarelli's trademark style and personality, but with great respect towards the original compositions.

In addition to leading his own band, Pizzarelli has performed or recorded with top artists in jazz and pop including as James Taylor, Natalie Cole, Rickie Lee Jones, Rosemary Clooney, Clark Terry, George Shearing and, of course, Bucky Pizzarelli.
