Rebel and Misfits Productions Presents Third Installment of IMMERSIVE THEATRE PROJECT

Rebel and Misfits Productions is thrilled to present the third installment of the Immersive Theatre Project October 24-November 10. Dive into a shocking world and discover the heart and dark underbelly of a story that you have undoubtedly come in contact with before, but never allowed full access to the dripping heat and intimacy pulled along by its characters.

This is one of Shakespeare's boldest and most passionate plays deeply imagined. Who are the inhabitants? Why do their souls choose the courses they embark upon? What is behind the door? Immerse yourself in a world of direct interaction, walk into this complexly-woven tale, wade into its unlocked depths. We invite you to meet these characters as you never have before. Drink with them. Dance with them. Share your secrets with them. They will, in turn, weave you into the fabric of the action. Come and experience this high-octane, dangerous, and sexy world, where nothing is ever quite what it seems.

St. Louisans will be the first to see this immersive interpretation before Rebel and Misfits Productions takes it to other cities. For those who saw their production of Hamlet: See What I See, this is not entirely dissimilar, however the style and the scope are entirely different. Artistic Director Kelly Hummert explains, "This one is extremely modern, sexy, dangerous, and personal. The amount of immersive rules will be ramped up, and because of that, this will feel like a brand-new experience. Instead of following the rules of the past, we will lean in to certain topical themes (both political and specific to St. Louis) and directly addressing them. Each character has a full and complete backstory, which will leave you rooting for some more than others while learning something new about yourself, whether you like it or not. Our hope is that you leave feeling differently, or perhaps more clearly, about the world you are re-entering."

Having seen this play more times than she can count and been in it four times, Hummert still feels like no one has quite unlocked it. "We very much plan on unlocking it. And that can't be done in a vacuum. We are relying heavily on the audience to trust us and go along for the ride. The way we are presenting it gives the audience a complete backstory for these characters who inhabit it. We learn deep and dark secrets about them, and it gives so much credence to the action, the why. By working inside-out, we are able to give this play a life it deserves but has never had."

One of Hummert's favorite pieces of Shakespeare, the issue for her is its brevity. "We are asked to accept the action and the words that are presented to us. For me, that has never been enough. I want to know these people more intimately. I need more history in order to suspend my disbelief and really take the ride. So, we decided, let's start there. Let's actually create a deep and twisted history for ALL of characters, and see how we can tell this story in a completely original way. I've talked to people who have worked on this show in some capacity 70 - 100 times. They all say that the concepts I am presenting are a 'first' for them. That no one has told this story from this kind of lens. And I am very excited about that. I can say for certain that if you think you know this story, you will be shocked and surprised by what we have created and will present. Nothing is what it once was or what it seems."

The cast includes Sean Patrick Higgins, Jeffrey Cummings, Spencer Sickmann, Reginald Pierre, Paul Cereghino, Shane Signorino, Kelly Hummert, Aarya Locker, Phil Leveling, Patrice Foster, Joel Antony, Hailey Medrano, Tyler Cheatem, Cynthia Pohlson, Ali Linderer, Kevin Corpuz and Jordan Woods. In true immersive theatre form, the play will be co-directed by Kelly Hummert, Sean Patrick Higgins with Jordan Woods assisting.

Follow along as Rebel and Misfits Productions host a city-wide scavenger hunt. Rocks with clues will be hidden throughout the city and clues will be revealed on their Facebook and Instagram accounts, as well as their website at www.rebelandmisfitsproductions.com. The play itself will be revealed two weeks before they open.

Tickets will go on sale October 1st at http://www.rebelandmisfitsproductions.com/. A bus will transport guests to the final location. While the location for the experience itself remains a secret, the location for pick up and drop off will be announced soon. The location is one of St. Louis's best kept secrets, a place you may have heard about but were never allowed inside. According to Hummert, this is the first time they have allowed outsiders to work in their space, and once inside, prepare to be completely floored by it. "The space was made for this play, which is why we chose it!"
