New Line Theatre, "the bad boy of musical theatre," now in its 22nd season of alternative, adult musical theatre, presents the powerhouse Pulitzer Prize winning rock opera NEXT TO NORMAL, running now through March 23, 2013 at the Washington University South Campus Theatre. BroadwayWorld has a first look at the cast onstage below!

New Line veteran Kimi Short will play Diana, with Jeffrey M. Wright as Dan, Ryan Foizey as Gabe, newcomers Mary Beth Black as Natalie and Joseph McAnulty as Henry, and New Line's go-to character actor Zachary Allen Farmer as Dr. Madden and Dr. Fine. Artistic director Scott Miller and associate artistic director Mike Dowdy will direct, with costume design by Amy Kelly, lighting design by Sean Savoie, scenic design by Scott L. Schoonover, and musical direction by Justin Smolik. Short and Wright also recently played across from each other as the leads in New Line's critically acclaimed High Fidelity in June.

The powerful, thrilling rock musical NEXT TO NORMAL features music by Tom Kitt and book and lyrics by Brian Yorkey, winner of the Tony Award for best score and the Pulitzer Prize for drama. From the composer of High Fidelity and Bring It On comes the most adult, most mature rock musical to hit Broadway in decades, an unrelentingly intense, brutally honest - and darkly funny - story about a bipolar woman and the family that grapples with her illness, all set to a hard driving rock and roll score that explodes with raw, searing emotion.

New Line Theatre is a professional company dedicated to involving the people of the St. Louis region in the exploration and creation of daring, provocative, socially and politically relevant works of musical theatre. New Line Theatre was created in 1991 at the vanguard of a new wave of nonprofit musical theatre just starting to take hold across the country. The company has given birth to several world premiere musicals over the years and has brought back to life many shows that did not do well in their original New York productions. Altogether, New Line has produced 68 musicals and 5 concerts of theatre songs since 1991. New Line Theatre was recently given its own entry in the latest edition of the prestigious Cambridge Guide to American Theatre.

NEXT TO NORMAL runs Feb. 28-Mar. 23, 2013, on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings, at 8:00 p.m., at the Washington University South Campus Theatre (formerly CBC High School), 6501 Clayton Road, just east of Big Bend. Feb. 28 is a preview. Tickets are on sale now through the Fox Theatre Box Office, or by calling 314-534-1111. This show contains adult content and adult language.
