STAGES ST. LOUIS is proud to report the box office numbers for the Burt Bacharach, Hal David and Neil Simon production Promises, Promises. The show marks the second consecutive show this season to break records. The first was William Hauptman and Roger Miller's Big River: The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, which brought in over $20,000 more than the previous highest grossing season opener Thoroughly Modern Millie (2008).

Promises, Promises played to many sold-out houses and an overall average of 96% capacity in the 384-seat Robert G. Reim theatre in Kirkwood, MO. The show which starred St. Louis actor Ben Nordstrom (Chuck Baxter) and Broadway actress Tari Kelly (Fran Kubelik) ran closely with the ever-popular The Drowsy Chaperone (2009), but at close Promises, Promises surpassed the record by over $10,000, breaking all existing records.

Executive Producer Jack Lane stated, "Promises, Promises was a success on many levels. We were fortunate to have a multi-talented cast, crew and design team. The set was one of the most electrifying in STAGES history. During its 38 performances, it was the hottest ticket in town with many patrons coming back for a second and third time. We also welcomed over 500 new patrons that had never been to STAGES before. The financial success puts us in a great position, during these difficult times, as we enter into our 25th Anniversary Season in 2011 and we couldn't be more pleased."

STAGES will continue its 24th Season on Friday, September 3 with the opening of Rodgers and Hammerstein's State Fair, which will run for 38 performances through October 3.

The 2010 Season has been made possible with the support of the Regional Arts Commission, and has been funded in part by the Arts & education Council. In addition, financial assistance has been provided by the Missouri Arts Council, a state agency.

The recipient of twenty Kevin Kline Awards over the past five years, including six in 2010, STAGES was founded in 1987 and has become the leading company for musical theatre performance and education in the Midwest.
