By:

St. Louis' favorite - and only - parody theatre company, MAGIC SMOKING MONKEY THEATRE presents THE ONE-HOUR LORD OF THE RINGS TRILOGY: LIVE! April 24 - May 9 at the Regional Arts Commission Studio Theatre.

Adapted by John Wolbers and Liz Henning and directed by Artistic Director Donna Northcott, Magic Smoking Monkey Theatre presents the onstage spectacle THE ONE-HOUR LORD OF THE RINGS TRILOGY: LIVE! The production fuses all three Academy Award Winning films into one hobbit-packed hour, following the fate of Frodo and the One Ring from the bucolic Shire to the treacherous slopes of Mount Doom. Along the way, Frodo encounters wizards, elves, dwarves, humans, orcs, wargs, Nazgul, and the creature Gollum, who shows Frodo both the way to Mordor - and what he will become if he gives in to the power of The Ring. Will Frodo make it there and back again in an hour? Join us to find out! THE ONE-HOUR LORD OF THE RINGS TRILOGY: Three films. Twenty-seven characters. Ten actors. One hour will rule them all.

THE ONE-HOUR LORD OF THE RINGS TRILOGY: LIVE! stars Aaron Orion Baker as Gandalf, Ben Ritchie as Aragorn, John Wolbers as Frodo, Chris Jones as Gimli, Adam Thenhaus as Sam, and Roger Erb as Gollum. With special guest stars Suki Peters, Amy Kelly, Richard Lewis, Al Erickson, Laura Ernst, Joshua Nash Payne, Christian Viera, and Robert Mitchell (not the Robert Mitchell of Non-Prophet fame).

Performances are April 24 - May 9, 2009, Friday and Saturday at 8:00 p.m. and 10:30pm at the Regional Arts Commission Studio Theatre, 6128 Delmar in University City, MO 63112. Tickets are $15 general admission, $10 for students 18 and under. Advance tickets are available through Metrotix at (314) 534-1111 or metrotix.com.
