Gateway Center for Performing Arts' Youth Theatre Company Presents REALLY ROSIE This Weekend

By:

Gateway Center for Performing Arts' Youth Theatre Company continues it's 2014-2015 season with its Gateway Series production of Really Rosie, this weekend, June 26th - 27th, 2015. The Gateway Season shows are a hybrid of the Youth Theatre Company and GCPA educational experience and are chosen to be thought provoking, challenging, and to push the "norm" of St. Louis youth theatre.

Based on Maurice Sendak's classic books including Alligators All Around, Pierre, and One Was Johnny, this 1980 off-Broadway gem, with music by Carol King, tells the tale of Rosie, a demonstrative and dramatic child who lives on Avenue P in Brooklyn as she and her friends, the Nutshell Kids, attempt to entertain themselves on another long, summer day. Rosie's creativity and bossiness, as she directs and stars in the epic story of her life, is an enchanting, uplifting, and subtle reminder of the resiliency a child's imagination can provide.

"Really Rosie is a hidden treasure that I have been anxious to be a part of since my childhood babysitter introduced it to me in the early '90s," says Stephanie Fox, GCPA Artistic Director and Director/Choreographer for this production. "While on the surface the material is light, fun and educational, it also has an extremely poignant theme that challenges young actors to really read between the lines and delve into their character's lives. Audiences of all ages are sure to learn from, enjoy and cherish Rosie and her friends' escapades on a summer afternoon."

The GCPA YTC production of REALLY ROSIE performs June 26th at 7pm, and June 27th at 2 pm and 7 pm at the Southhampton Presbyterian Church. Tickets are $10.00 each and can be purchased online at www.gcpastl.org/tickets. Priority seating is available for tickets purchased by Sunday, June 14th.
