AN ACT OF GOD Comes to New Jewish Theatre
![]()
The second production of the new Jewish Theatre's 2018-19 season is the entertaining comedy, An Act of God. Directed by NJT Artistic Director Edward Coffield, the show runs November 29 - December 16.
Returning to Earth, God has chosen to take the form of beloved St. Louis actor, Alan Knoll. He is joined by two archangels, Cassidy Flynn as Michael and Amanda Wales as Gabriel, and returns to gift humanity with an entirely new set of Ten Commandments. Written by 13-time Emmy Award winner David Javerbaum (The Daily Show), An Act of God is an exceptionally witty comedy that delivers a new meaning to the phrase "divine intervention."
An Act of God is based on Javerbaum's 2011 book, The Last Testament: A Memoir by God, and his Twitter account @TheTweetofGod, which had more than two million followers before he discontinued the feed in 2016. In addition to his Emmys, he has won a Grammy Award and three Peabody Awards for his work on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. Javerbaum is also co-creator of the Netflix sitcom Disjointed, starring Kathy Bates, and has worked on The Late Late Show with James Corden and The Colbert Report.
An Act of God ran on Broadway twice, in the 2015 season starring Jim Parson, and the 2016 season starring Sean Hayes. The production has played to sold out houses across the country. The NJT production will be the St. Louis professional premier.
An Act of God runs November 29 - December 16 at the J's Wool Studio Theatre (2 Millstone Campus Drive, St. Louis, MO 63146) Tickets for this hilarious evening are $42-45 and single tickets are available through NJT Box Office, 314-442-3283 or at newjewishtheatre.org.
