JUNIE B. JONES Opens At Columbia Children's Theatre

She's back! And this time she may or may not be a criminal! Join Columbia Children's Theatre (CCT)-the Midlands' only professional theatre for families and young audiences-as they present this hilarious adaptation of Barbara Park's Junie B. Jones Is Not A Crook, February 24 - March 4. Show times are Saturdays at 10:30 am, 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm, and Sundays at 3:00. All performances are held at Columbia Children's Theatre's new performance space on the 1st level of Richland Mall, 3400 Forest Drive next to Barnes & Noble. Tickets for the Saturday and Sunday performances are $10.00 for children three years of age through adult. The 7:00 p.m. performances on Saturday evenings will have a special ticket price of $5.00 for everyone. Advance tickets can be purchased securely online at columbiachildrenstheatre.com. The University of South Carolina's Department of Theatre and Dance presents THE CRUCIBLE at Longstreet Theatre! The Arthur Miller play first premiered on Broadway in 1953, and went on to win a Tony Award later that year for Best Play. Inspired by the then-current events of the Red Scare, Miller chose to write allegorical play about the Salem Witch Trials. THE CRUCIBLE opened February 2nd, and will continue to run through this Saturday, February 10th.

North Charleston Coliseum Celebrates Twenty-Five Years of Live Entertainment in 2018

On January 29, 1993, the Lowcountry entertainment scene changed forever. On this date, the North Charleston Coliseum opened its doors for the first time. The show was World Figure Skating Champions featuring Olympic champions Elizabeth Manley and Marina Klimova & Sergio Ponomarenko.  The next night, country music superstars Alan Jackson and Lorrie Morgan took the stage for the first concert in the Coliseum. Both shows had capacity crowds and the Lowcountry finally had a world class entertainment venue. In the years following, the biggest names in music and entertainment would make North Charleston a regular stop on their world tours.

The Peace Center will present a free screening of the documentary film Rebels on Pointe in the Gunter Theatre on Saturday, Feb. 3, at 5 p.m. The ballet company that is the subject of the film, Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo, will perform in the Peace Concert Hall on Feb. 16.
