The Gallery at REDCAT is pleased to present the first Los Angeles presentation of two influential contemporary artists who pioneered the field of video art in China: Hangzhou-based artist Zhang Peili and Beijing-based artist Zhu Jia. Coming out of a generation that witnessed the ramifications of the Cultural Revolution, the 1989 Tiananmen Massacre and the infamous 1989 China/Avant-Garde exhibition at the National Museum of Contemporary Art and its subsequent closing by state authorities, Zhang and Zhu use video to navigate the complex and shifting terrain that characterizes contemporary China.

This is an invitation only event, not open to the public. The Annual Festival of New Musicals has become a jumping off point for a number of Village Theatre's most popular new works. Leading writers and producers from across the world come together for this invite-only event to be part of the process of developing new musicals. Since 2001, the Village Originals Festival has developed over 50 new musicals and worked with over 100 authors.

Glendale Philharmonic Orchestra Founder and critically acclaimed Russian Cellist, Ruslan Biryukov, will perform composer Sergei Prokofiev's 'Sinfonia Concertante, Op. 125' as a Guest Soloist with two different orchestras in two separate upcoming concerts to be held here in the Southland. Biryukov will waive his appearance fees and donate his time to appear in each concert during these challenging economic times.

Guy Adkins died May 12 after a long battle with colon cancer. He was 41. Adkins was widly praised for his stage work in Chicago over the last decade. Adkins took on plays and musicals in his career, starring as the title role in Hamlet in 2002 and as Leo Bloom in The Producers in 2007.
