Mark Indelicato - best known as 'Justin Suarez' on ABC-TV's UGLY BETTY - will read Susanna Reich's book - Jose! Born to Dance, on Saturday, January 24th at 2:00pm as part of Making Books Sing Day at the Barnes & Noble in Greenwich Village (396 6th Avenue - at 8th Street). Additionally, following the reading, there will be a 'sneak peek' of Making Books Sing's new musical - the World-Premiere family musical JOS? JOS? LIM?N: THE MAKING OF AN ARTIST has Book & Lyrics by Barbara Zinn Krieger and Music by Charles Greenberg, with performances set for the Lovinger Theatre at Lehman College in The Bronx; Symphony Space in Manhattan; the Goldstein Theatre at Kingsborough Community College in Brooklyn; and Stanford Lively Arts in Stanford, CA. Brad Malow directs, with choreography by Eric Jackson Bradley. Based on an unfinished memoir by the famed dancer and choreographer Jose Limon - JOS? LIM?N: THE MAKING OF AN ARTIST tells his story of struggle and survival through a combination of music, dance and theatre. It examines his life from his exodus with his family to the United States at age 5 during the Mexican Civil War, through his struggle to find an artistic outlet and finally to his triumph as one of the greatest male dancers/choreographers of all time. The cast for JOS? LIM?N: THE MAKING OF AN ARTIST is Diego Rodriguez in the title role, Talia Barzilay, Henry Gainza, Matt Leddy, and Angela Stellute.

The zany 1920's musical that won the 2002 Tony Award for Best Musical is directed by director of last season's The Wild Party, Neal Freeman.

Today Tony Taccone, artistic director of Berkeley Repertory Theatre, announced additional dates for two solo shows that he staged in Berkeley before launching them on tours across the continent. Danny Hoch's Taking Over had its world premiere at Berkeley Rep in January and hit it big in Montreal this July; next week it starts an All City Tour featuring free performances in Brooklyn, Queens, and the Bronx in addition to previously announced dates in Manhattan and Los Angeles. Moreover, after a record-breaking run in Berkeley last winter, Carrie Fisher's Wishful Drinking careened through Hartford, San Jose, Santa Fe, and Washington, DC this summer; now it adds Seattle to a list of upcoming destinations that also includes Boston.
Collected Stories, one of South Coast Repertory's most successful commissioned plays, will replace the previously announced Daniel Sullivan-directed King Lear as the final production of South Coast Repertory's 2008-09 season. Donald Margulies' Pulitzer Prize nominated play about two women writers at opposite stages of their careers will run May 15 through June 14, 2009 on the Segerstrom Stage. King Lear will open SCR's 2009-10 season.
'We are delighted to have this opportunity to revisit one of Donald's most celebrated plays and reintroduce it to Southern California audiences,' said Artistic Director Martin Benson, who will direct the revival.
Collected Stories received its World Premiere in 1996 on SCR's Second Stage. After its New York premiere at Manhattan Theatre Club, Collected Stories received a commercial Off-Broadway run, and the Los Angeles production at the Geffen Playhouse was subsequently filmed for PBS. Since then, Collected Stories has been produced throughout the U.S. and the world.
'Although we've had to postpone King Lear due to an unexpected conflict with Daniel Sullivan's spring schedule, we're happy to be able to replace it with Donald's engaging play,' said Producing Artistic Director David Emmes. 'Fortunately, Dan will be able to direct King Lear in the fall and we gain an exciting way to open our 2009-10 season.'
In addition to Collected Stories, Margulies is the author of four plays that were commissioned and premiered by South Coast Repertory: Brooklyn Boy and Pulitzer Prize finalist Sight Unseen, which received Broadway productions, and Shipwrecked! An Entertainment - The Amazing Adventures of Louis de Rougemont as Told by Himself. Dinner with Friends, which had its West Coast Premiere at SCR, won the 2000 Pulitzer Prize.

The Brooklyn-based theatre company, Woodshed Collective, will present the premiere of Caridad Svich's Twelve Ophelias, directed by Teddy Bergman, as a free event at McCarren Park Pool, one of the city's best-loved concert and performance venues, in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, beginning performances Friday, July 11, at 8pm and opening Thursday, July 24 at 8pm. The McCarren Park Pool is located on Lorimer Street at Bayard Street.
