Disney's Beauty and the Beast features the animated film's Academy Award-winning score with music by Alan Menken and lyrics by the late Howard Ashman, with additional songs with music by Alan Menken and lyrics by Tim Rice. The book is written by Linda Woolverton.

The original creators of the Broadway production are together again for this new touring production! The play is directed by Rob Roth and choreographed by Matt West, with Costume Design by Ann Hould-Ward (Tony Award winner for her work on Disney's Beauty and the Beast), Lighting Design by Natasha Katz, Scenic Design by Stanley A. Meyer, Sound Design by John Petrafesa Jr. and Music Supervision by Michael Kosarin.

Greater Austin High School Musical Theater Awards Set for the Long Center Tonight

It will be a night of firsts for performing arts in Austin, Texas! The First Annual Greater Austin High School Musical Theatre Awards (GAHSMTA) will be held at the Long Center, tonight, April 17 at 7:30pm. Not only will it be the first large scale project fully produced in-house by Austin's iconic performing arts venue on Lady Bird Lake, but also it will be the first time the Long Center has partnered with ZACH Theatre and The University of Texas at Austin College of Fine Arts.

Bill Condon to Direct Disney's Live-Action Adaptation of BEAUTY AND THE BEAST?

According to Collider, rumor has it that Bill Condon may have been chosen to direct Disney's live-action adaptation of their classic Beauty and the Beast. Ever since Alice in Wonderland's success in 2010, Disney has slowly been adapting their classics into live-action films. Maleficent is soon to be released, followed by Cinderella and The Jungle Book in 2015. Beauty and the Beast is also in the works; however, not much has been revealed about the creative team or the actual movie itself.

In celebration of ten years of creating and licensing shows for young performers, Disney Theatrical Productions announced today that it is adding school versions of The Lion King to Music Theatre International's (MTI) Broadway Junior Collection planned for distribution in January 2015. The Lion King JR. (a 60-minute musical for middle-school students) and The Lion King KIDS (a 30-minute musical for elementary-school students) will be licensed exclusively to accredited elementary and middle schools. Each school license will include a full array of companion materials to aid teachers and students in learning about stagecraft and performance. This opportunity marks the first time any long-running hit musical has released a specially-created version for elementary and middle school students while the original show was still playing on Broadway.
