Music Director Jacques Lacombe and the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra kick off 2012 with The Hero's Fire, the first program in the Orchestra's 2012 Winter Festival-FIRE. Pianist Yevgeny Sudbin joins the NJSO for Scriabin's Prometheus: The Poem of Fire (Symphony No. 5); Arc3design collaborates with the Orchestra to create a special lighting environment for these performances. With ambitions that exceeded the technological capabilities of his era, Scriabin envisioned elaborate projections of color accompanying the music of Prometheus: The Poem of Fire.
The African American experience is not represented solely by one voice or one style. For the third year in a row Horse Trade Theater Group will present The Fire This Time Festival, providing a platform for talented early-career playwrights of African and African-American descent to explore new voices, styles, and challenging new directions for 21st century performing arts in order to move beyond common misconceptions of what's possible in 'black theater.'

The 'jukebox musical', which opened on Broadway in March 2006, is not a biography of Cash, but instead it's described as 'a unique mosaic that follows the life and times of Johnny Cash through his most famous songs.'

The 17th annual edition of the spectacular Fire Island Dance Festival raised a record-breaking $340,445, surpassing the previous record by more than $23,000. Fire Island Dance Festival 17, the most anticipated cultural event of the season at Fire Island Pines, was presented July 15-17 and is produced by and benefits Dancers Responding to AIDS, a program of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.
