Edward Kleban was the Tony-winning lyricist for the Broadway classic, A CHORUS LINE. Upon his death in 1978, a trunkful of songs from never-produced musicals was found by his friends and A CLASS ACT was born. Featuring songs in the classic-Broadway style and characters from his life including his A CHORUS LINE writing partner, Marvin Hamlisch and the show's creator, Buffalo's own Michael Bennett, A CLASS ACT tells the story of a remarkable man and the ups and downs of his life and career in the theatre.

The New York Philharmonic will present Stephen Sondheim's groundbreaking Company, with an all-star cast led by Neil Patrick Harris, star of the hit television series, How I Met Your Mother, on April 7-9, 2011. The award-winning musical will be produced and directed by Lonny Price, who directed and co-produced last season's SONDHEIM: The Birthday Concert!, and will be conducted by Sondheim specialist Paul Gemignani, with the original orchestrations for a 35-piece orchestra by Jonathan Tunick. Since our notice of November 2, there has been a change of directors on one of the plays. Now both one-acts will be directed by Negro Ensemble Company's Artistic Director, Charles Weldon.

Presented from September 2010 to June 2011 are the West Coast premiere of Neil Bartlett's new adaptation of Charles Dickens' GREAT EXPECTATIONS, a reprise of ANW's critically acclaimed and popular staging of Michael Frayn's NOISES OFF, Shakespeare's MEASURE FOR MEASURE and THE COMEDY OF ERRORS, Noel Coward's BLITHE SPIRIT, Tennessee Williams' THE ECCENTRICITIES OF A NIGHTINGALE, and Eugene Ionesco's THE CHAIRS. The season, ANW's 19th and last in its current Glendale location before moving in Fall 2011 to a spectacular new Pasadena venue, concludes with three retrospective evenings of the company's many years in Glendale.
Act II Playhouse has named Pam Dickler managing director of the professional theatre company. Originally from Bucks County, PA, Dickler has spent much of the past two decades as part of Chicago's thriving theatrical community as a producer, director, actor and writer.

Cats is one of those shows that even non-theatregoers know about. It has become part of pop culture and history, perhaps because of its feline choreography, or its energetic numbers and over the top costumes, or possibly the memorable score. But, when these fantastic felines show up in Atlanta on August 4th at the Fox to host their Jellicle Ball once again, all your favorites will be there with them including Grizabella, the Glamour cat. And behind Grizabella's worn whiskers will be Anastasia Lange. I had a chance to talk with Anastasia about the show and life as a "cat"
